"We established however some, although not all its [self-government] important principles. The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent, (as in electing their functionaries executive and legislative, and deciding by a jury of themselves, in all judiciary cases in which any fact is involved,) or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Cartwright, 1824

NEW MEANING TO OLD WORDS

"Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law." These words have taken on an entirely new meaning when applied to those who legislate and regulate. Where once the average citizen was expected to know and understand each law, we now have lawmakers that fail to read the laws they vote on. There are some legislators that claim to have read the thousands of pages. Why, then, do they fail to recognize the consequences of their actions? Why do the regulators fail to enforce the laws? Why do voters re-elect these miscreants? The over arching reason is IGNORANCE.
In the name of "Political correctness", we fail to address the root causes of the countries problems. Inner city schools fail to educate their students. Blame is put on the teachers, and we don't speak of the failure of parents to encourage their children to learn or even attend school. Law enforcement is forbidden to profile criminals. The knowledge police officers have acquired through years of experience is wasted and crime goes on. Poor, uneducated people consistently vote for politicians that promise them a better life, yet they remain poor and uneducated. All the while those politicians grow fat and wealthy.
Wall Street, Banks and large corporations are accused of greed in keeping the people down. While a few are greedy and take advantage for their own gains, most recognize people that earn more are better customers. It is those politicians that count on the votes of the downtrodden that don't wish them to succeed. This brings us back to IGNORANCE, the politicians friend.

OZ

Dwell on this!

"The Wizard of Oz" is 70 years old.  A remake would not be as good.  If Dorothy were to encounter men with no brain, no heart, and no courage today, she wouldn't be in Oz, she'd be in Congress.

The Queen's Jet (I will pass this on every time I receive it!)

--
I don't care who you are ... Democrat, Republican, or Independent .... liberal or conservative ... blue state or red state ... you have to be appalled at the sheer gall of this woman!

http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/military/c-32a/c32aphotos.html
This is QUEEN PELOSI'S NEW JET!!!  And the Democrats talk about Sarah's dresses???
Queen Pelosi wasn't happy with the small USAF C-20B jet, Gulfstream III, that comes with the Speaker's job ... OH NO!  Queen Pelosi was aggravated that this little jet had to stop to refuel, so she ordered a Big Fat, 200-seat, USAF C-32, Boeing 757 jet that could get her back to California without stopping!  I understand that a former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, flew commerical most of the time.
Many, many legislators walked by and grinned with glee as Joe informed everyone of what Queen Nancy's Big Fat Jet costs us, the hard working American tax payers, literally thousands of gallons of fuel every week..
Since she only works 3 days a week, this gas guzzling jet gets fueled and she flies home to California every Friday and returns every Monday, at a cost to the taxpayers (YOU and ME are those taxpayers!) of about $60,000, one way!
As Joe put it ..."unfortunately we have to pay to bring her back on Monday night and that costs us another $60,000!"  Taxpayers, that is $480,000 per month and that is an annual cost to us of $5,760,000!!!
No wonder she complains about the cost of this war ... it might cramp her style and she is styling on my back and yours.  I think of the military families in this country doing without and this woman, who heads up the most do-nothing Congress in the history of our country, keeps fueling that jet while doing nothing.
Queen Pelosi wants you and me to conserve our carbon footprint.  She wants us to buy  smaller cars and Obama wants us to get a bicycle pump and air up our tires. Who do these people think they are???  Their motto is ... Don't do as I do ... JUST DO AS I SAY!
If you think this is outrageous, forward it to all those on your email list!  Keep in mind the figures above do NOT include the cost of plane or crew ... just the fuel!!!  One has to wonder what the total package costs us?
And on top of that ... now she wants to tax our IRA's & 401K's!
PASS THIS ON IF YOU CARE ABOUT ANYTHING AT ALL!

MORE DEMOCRAT STUPIDITY

The United States Senate just voted 100 to 0 to NOT cut Medicare benefits. They then proceeded to vote 58 to 42 (two democrats voting with republicans) to allow cutting $500 billion from the Medicare trust funds.  After the vote Senators Dodd and Baucus claimed the massive cut in Medicare Advantage was not a cut in Medicare, because it is a private plan. When confronted with page 50 of the Medicare handbook, which states Advantage is a Medicare option, they said it shouldn't be in the handbook.
These fools are running the country. They shouldn't even be allowed out in public without a keeper. I had to turn off C-Span before they drive me to their Looney bin.
Concurrently, President Obama held a jobs summit. The inspired purpose was to help create jobs. One thing however, was missing. The organizations that represent the business' that create the majority of jobs were not invited. He showed them what it means to disagree with him.

"We are either a United people, or we are not. If the former, let us, in all maters of general concern act as a nation, which have national objects to promote, and a national character to support. If we are not, let us no longer act a farce by pretending to it." --George Washington, letter to James Madison, 1785

THE TYRANNY OF CONGRESS

James Madison, the father of our constitution, explained, "The powers delegated by the proposed constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."

The founding fathers had a misguided belief that members of congress would go to the Senate and the House to represent the State and the people that elected them. They feared a too powerful central government with a tyrant as President. The system of checks and balances they devised, with the legislative branch representative of the States and people was supposed to prevent an all powerful federal government.
The Supreme Court was not given specific authorization to interpret the constitution, instead, the constitution left it to congress and to the justices of the court to develop the authorities and operations of the judicial branch. What has transpired over the years is that the Congress and the Court have conspired in striping the States of any authority. Sure the members of Congress bring pork home, but is this to make the states more dependent on a strong federal government? While the federal ability to tax in order to fund those thing the states can not provide is vital, they now fund everything from state roads to grants for most local projects.
When did you last hear a member of congress speaking out for states rights?  They do beg for more federal funds for education and other federally mandated programs. This is taxpayer money that never should have gone to Washington. Most of the programs rightfully belong to decisions of the states. One might conclude that congressional members have come to only represent Washington.

A GOVERNMENT STRONG ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING, IS STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE IT AWAY.
